Review: Collagen Re-Inforce Elizabeth Grant Face Creams

As I get closer to 40 than 30 I recognise the years of broken sleep and poor diet haven’t exactly helped my skin. I was recently sent some products from Elizabeth Grant to review and after having a quick Google I found out they are a Canadian company which focuses on anti-ageing cream. Does reviewing anti-ageing products make me officially old?

A further Google advised me that for best results you should start using anti-ageing creams before you get too many wrinkles. So me and my fine lines started testing out the Collagen Re-Inforce Snow Algae (torricelumn) Day Cream, Night Cream and Eye Treatment.

My normal beauty routine consists of cleansing, occasional exfoliation and then a light moisturiser so switching to a different cream for morning and evening, plus a special cream for my eyes is a bit of a change.

What is the Difference Between Day Cream and Night Cream?

The day cream is lighter; it absorbed faster into my skin leaving it ready for me to apply make up. The night cream feels richer and isn’t absorbed as quickly. I could still feel the moisturiser on my skin some time after applying. The idea is that the day cream should help protect against environmental factors like the wind, sun and air conditioning drying your skin out, while the night cream is about repairing and restoring your skin.

And the Eye Treatment?

The eye cream is super light and perfect for the delicate eye area. It helps plump up the skin reducing the appearance of fine lines. I love the metal applicator which is cool against the skin and can be used to gently rub the cream in. The eye treatment is gentle and doesn’t leave my eyes stinging if I accidentally get too close.

So Where Does The Snow Algae Come Into It?

Apparently it is found growing in the Swiss Alps and it manages to thrive under the severe conditions so it is thought to be the perfect ingredient for protecting and rejuvenating the skin. I’ll admit I’m dubious about many of the statements made by beauty products. They find strange organisms with faux latin sounding names and make lots of claims. Yet many medicines have been found in nature, the world holds many secrets we haven’t unlocked yet and I am open to the idea that algae might just be one of the wonder treatments.

And How Does My Skin Look?

Right now my skin has loads of spots thanks to hormones so I am hiding it under a tonne of makeup, other than that though it is looking good. If you ignore the spots my skin is looking bright and clear. I have been looking much more closely at my skin over the last few weeks and paying more attention to the lines. When I look in the mirror I think my fine lines are less obvious even if I am more aware of them.

The Day and Night Cream come in 50ml pots. Unscrew the lid for the first time and you will need to remove a foil seal and a plastic cap before you get to the white unscented cream.

The Eye Treatment comes in a 20ml tube with a pull off plastic cap revealing the metal applicator (I say it’s metal, I’m sure it is because it feels cold and harder than the plastic).
